Rich Fox is a Northwest Harbor Advisor who brings over 30 years of executive experience to the Northwest Harbor Team. Rich is a 20-year veteran in the Analytics industry, with 10 years of finance experience, and has deep expertise in transformational data strategy, business & data alignment, customer analytics, revenue optimization, marketing analytics, labor optimization and finance transformations. He is an experienced thought leader, bringing strong business expertise to the strategy, design and use of analytics to best link key decisions to high value outcomes.
Rich has been at the forefront of innovative methods in the application of data and analytics to solve business problems and was one of the pioneers in developing cascaded KPI frameworks to better manage strategy to execution performance. He has led in a diverse group of industries including e-commerce, restaurants, hotels, retail, distribution, manufacturing, real estate and service industries. He brings a practitioner’s mindset to any data and analytics challenge, working across all steps from strategy design, to implementation and execution: constantly innovating ways to implement new technologies and approaches into projects, while explaining advanced results in an understandable and implementable manner.
Rich served as Vice President of Analytics and Data Science at Apex Parks Group, and held executive roles in analytics and finance at BikeBandit.com, Carlson Restaurants Worldwide, Catalina Restaurant Group, Channel Island Properties and Align Alytics. He is also a CPA and spent six years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Rich teaches Analytics in the Master’s program at San Diego State University where he recently co-designed their new Innovation Course. In 2018, he designed and taught a new Data Driven Leader certificate program for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), focusing on how the Office of Finance can lead a company in their Transformational Data Strategy. He is a frequent speaker at Analytics conferences across the country, and serves on the Advisory Board for the University of California Irvine Customer Experience Program. Rich holds an BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois, and has a Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern.
